NAB Show 2025 Recap: Real-World Results and a New Era for Streaming Efficiency

NAB Show 2025 was an exciting moment for the entire Scalstrm team, and we’re proud to have been part of it. This year, we joined forces with NETINT Technologies as co-exhibitors at their booth — a big thank you to the entire NETINT team for hosting us and making this collaboration such a success.

Over the course of the show, we had countless conversations with industry leaders, innovators, and decision-makers — both familiar faces and new connections. What united all those interactions was a shared drive: to push the limits of streaming performance while cutting operational complexity and cost. That’s exactly the direction we’re heading in at Scalstrm — and NAB 2025 was a fantastic validation of that.

Bringing JIT Transcoding to Life

The highlight for us was showcasing our Just-In-Time (JIT) Transcoding solution in a real-world benchmark demo — running directly on NETINT VPUs, within the Akamai Connected Cloud. Visitors to the stand saw firsthand how Scalstrm’s approach stacks up against traditional CPU-based workflows, revealing a compelling performance gap in terms of efficiency, power consumption, and cost per stream. Our transcoding solution can be deployed flexibly — either on NETINT VPUs running in the Akamai Cloud or on dedicated hardware, depending on the customer’s infrastructure needs.

“NAB 2025 was a great moment to show how far we’ve come with JIT transcoding. The feedback confirmed that the industry is ready to move beyond outdated workflows — and Scalstrm is well positioned to lead that change.”
Patrik Alm, Co-Founder & CEO

From our conversations, it’s clear that the industry is no longer satisfied with legacy media pipelines that pre-transcode and store VOD in every possible format or Live workflows that transcode all channels 24 x 7, regardless of popularity. With JIT transcoding, content is processed and delivered only when someone wants to watch it, in the right format, at the right moment — a smarter, leaner, and more scalable model for VOD and even live workflows.

“What stood out at NAB was how quickly the value of our solution clicked with people. Everyone’s facing similar challenges — storage costs, processing waste, latency — and our conversations showed just how relevant and timely our approach is.”
– Ola Bengtsson, Co-Founder & CTO

Strong Industry Feedback and New Momentum

What stood out most at NAB was the strong industry interest in Scalstrm’s approach to on-demand media processing. The feedback on our JIT transcoding solution was overwhelmingly positive — confirming that challenges around cost, agility, and infrastructure optimization are more relevant than ever.

We’re seeing a clear shift: media companies want solutions that are faster to deploy, easier to scale, and built for real-world usage — not theoretical workloads. That’s exactly what we’re building at Scalstrm.

Whether you stopped by the booth, joined us for a deeper technical discussion, or simply explored what’s new in streaming, we appreciate the time and interest. NAB is always about more than just technology — it’s about community, collaboration, and charting the path forward together.

We’re heading home from Las Vegas energized and inspired. To everyone who connected with us during the show: thank you. Let’s keep pushing what’s possible in streaming.
